Cheltenham Ladies’ College opened in 1854 to provide girls with an education equal to that of boys, and today, we continue to be proud of our tradition of innovation, excellence and empowerment in the education of young women.

Our GCSE, A Level and IB results are consistently excellent. We have been named top girls' boarding school in the country for IB in three of the last four years, and repeatedly recognised as the best independent school in the South West of England.

The future we are preparing our pupils for is full of excitement and challenge. While academic achievements are important, these must go hand-in-hand with cocurricular activities that interest and challenge them, a community that supports them, and opportunities to pursue passions and learn from failure. Our wide-ranging programmes offer opportunities to undertake new experiences and we are committed to helping every girl to find the talent and potential that lie within.

By nurturing well-rounded and self-confident girls, we help them to leave College as inspirational and empowered young women. Our leavers choose a variety of paths for future study, from medicine, law or engineering, to design, animation or drama: this is testament to the independent thinking, creativity and self-belief actively encouraged and thriving within our College community.

GSA School Profile

Kilgraston is a leading Catholic boarding and day school for girls aged 5 – 18.

We are a school with traditional values but with a modern and forward-looking perspective on education. Education is not just about exam success; developing interest and talents, nurturing an understanding of different cultures, and emphasising our personal responsibility as global citizens are vital. As such, a Kilgraston girl benefits from a wealth of opportunities to extend and enrich her educational experience. We offer over 50 extra-curricular activities and enjoy modern, state of the art facilities including a Science Centre, Sixth Form Study Centre, excellent boarding accommodation, 25m swimming pool, all-weather astro-turf pitches and Scotland’s only school equestrian centre.

Having been named ‘top performing independent school for Advanced Highers’ by best-schools.co.uk in 2015, Kilgraston girls routinely achieve outstanding sets of results. In 2018, 64% of girls are applying to study a STEM undergraduate course and in 2017 100% of girls were accepted into their choice of university. Kilgraston has an exceptional reputation for girls gaining entry into top UK universities.
