Cheltenham Ladies’ College opened in 1854 to provide girls with an education equal to that of boys, and today, we continue to be proud of our tradition of innovation, excellence and empowerment in the education of young women.

Our GCSE, A Level and IB results are consistently excellent. We have been named top girls' boarding school in the country for IB in three of the last four years, and repeatedly recognised as the best independent school in the South West of England.

The future we are preparing our pupils for is full of excitement and challenge. While academic achievements are important, these must go hand-in-hand with cocurricular activities that interest and challenge them, a community that supports them, and opportunities to pursue passions and learn from failure. Our wide-ranging programmes offer opportunities to undertake new experiences and we are committed to helping every girl to find the talent and potential that lie within.

By nurturing well-rounded and self-confident girls, we help them to leave College as inspirational and empowered young women. Our leavers choose a variety of paths for future study, from medicine, law or engineering, to design, animation or drama: this is testament to the independent thinking, creativity and self-belief actively encouraged and thriving within our College community.

Roedean School, with its stunning cliff-top location, is one of the UK’s leading girls’ schools, and is firmly established as the most popular senior school for girls in Sussex. With a mix of local, London and international girls from over 38 countries, the school is easily accessible – under an hour from London Victoria, with Gatwick airport only 30 minutes away.

As an academic school, we seek to inspire curiosity and a love of learning in all our girls. Roedean girls consistently achieve outstanding GCSE and A Level results, and Roedean is very proud that 37% of this year’s leavers are going on to study STEM courses at university.

Scholarships are available to new overseas entrants to the school who are academically able or a talented musician, in order to recognise outstanding ability.

The opportunity for girls to be able to excel in a number of different fields is one of the great gifts of Roedean, since it provides them with the space and time to devote to their passions, and all in one place. It is precisely this rounded education which produces independent and creative young women.
